Paul B. Cogswell is a Director of Compliance and Corporate Investigations at The BERO Group. He has over thirty years’ experience in compliance, investigations and risk management with global fortune 100 companies at the “C” level in a number of disciplines. As a former government and private investigator he has conducted thousands of investigations into a number of civil and criminal matters.
Previously, he held the position of Managing Director for McGovern & Greene, LLP, a forensic accounting and licensed investigations firm with offices in Chicago, IL and Henderson NV. There, he had consulted with clients on compliance and investigative matters as well as serving the Government in outside mentorships.
Mr. Cogswell has been a successful senior executive, in corporate governance, risk and compliance, and served in leadership capacities as a professional and process champion with global market leaders in the private equity, financial services, retail, transportation and manufacturing sectors. Trained as a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Ethics and Compliance Professional, lawyer, and licensed investigator, he is proficient in the latest technologies and reporting methodologies, and has built and led cross-discipline, top-talent teams in developing, implementing, and sustaining successful corporate investigations, compliance and governance programs, platforms and resources.
For the past decade he has served as the Vice President of Risk and Compliance for a multi-national holding firm specializing in payments, payroll and government services. There, he held a Top Secret Personnel Clearance (TS/SSBI) and worked with the Department of Defense and other Government Agencies to maintain facility and personnel security as a corporate Facility Security Officer under the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). He also managed the corporate compliance programs and risk management initiatives for the corporation.
He has formerly served as the Vice President and Chief Security Officer for one of the top five international transportation and logistics firms where he put together corporate security, safety and risk management programs prior to their successful acquisition.
As the former Director of Corporate Investigations and Compliance for the third largest global retail chain, Mr. Cogswell led a team of attorneys and accountants in professional investigations ranging from federal, state, and local criminal matters to complex civil litigation in both defense and prosecution positions. He served as the lead investigator for a number of merger and acquisition transactions.
